Alabama Chapter of The Wildlife Society (ACTWS) Board Meeting Minutes
Location: Montgomery
Date: 1/24/2007

Board Members Present:
Dagmar Thurmond, Mark Bailey, Allison Cochran, Dr. Barry Grand, Ray Metzler and Marisa Lee-Sasser

The meeting was called to order by Dagmar Thurmond and the following topics were discussed:

  • We received a thank-you letter from TWS for our $500 contribution for their IT and WEB based operations upgrades.  The upgrades were to allow TWS to communicate better with their members.  If you have not visited the TWS website, check them out at http://www.wildlife.org/

  • Also discussed were several updates needed on the ACTWS website and the need to get information posted in a timely manner.  If you have expertise in this area and would like to volunteer to help, contact Dagmar Thurmond.   We welcome any suggestions you have on what you would find helpful on the website.

  • The ACTWS by-laws are in need of review and revision.  Anyone that would be willing to volunteer their time to revise the current by-laws please contact Dagmar Thurmond.

  • The need for a newsletter (to be emailed to members and posted on the Chapter website) to help keep the chapter members better informed of current wildlife issues throughout the state was discussed.  Volunteers interested in editing a bi-annual newsletter are asked to contact Dagmar Thurmond at dthurmond@fs.fed.us

  • The annual meeting will be held May 8-9th in Andalusia, AL.  Please mark you’re your calendars.  Information on the annual meeting will be sent out in early February.  If you can not make the meeting this year, don’t forget to send me your dues (still only $5 - what a deal!) before May 1st.   Make checks payable to ACTWS. You can mail them to Marisa K. Lee-Sasser at:
  • Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources

  • The following positions are up for election at the May meeting:

    • Secretary/Treasurer
    • Southeastern Section Representative
